Dr. Heather Chalmers, DVM, Diplomate ACVR

Dr. Chalmers is an OVC graduate who completed a residency in diagnostic imaging at Cornell University in 2006 and hasDr. Heather Chalmers.jpg been on the faculty at the OVC since 2007.   Dr. Chalmers regularly works with all species and imaging modalities, however she has a special interest in equine imaging and especially ultrasound.  She is the recipient of several Pet Trust and Equine Guelph grants focused on using medical imaging to advance our understanding of important veterinary diseases including roaring in horses and disc disease in dogs.

With the support of Equine Guelph, we are investigating ultrasound as an improved method of diagnosing and monitoring upper airway diseases such as palate displacement, chondritis, and roaring.  Our aim is to improve the ability to diagnose upper airway problems in horses in an accurate, inexpensive, and non-invasive manner.
